2015 Hypocrite of the Year Award Benjamin Netanyahu…

Chutzpah is a word that really captures the spirit of Benjamin Netanyahu. In a statement where he continued his post election back peddle on his last minute flame throwing  he closed with this nugget:

“I think, similarly, that no element outside the state of Israel should intervene in our democratic processes.” Benjamin Netanyahu (emphasis mine)

This is the same guy that came to Washington DC and injected himself and his state into the democratic process of the United States of America.

  1. jonolan says:

There’s a big difference between Netanyahu speaking to Congress about any possible executive agreement with Iran and Obama trying to directly affect the outcome of Israeli elections, Alfie.

That being said, Israel’s position is not one, at the moment, that really allows for full independence in fact, as oppose to theory, due to their reliance upon US military aid. Hence, while I don’t find Netanyahu’s statement particularly hypocritical in context, I do find quasi-useless rhetoric.

  2. Alfie says:

Given the history of the Israeli elections dependence and welcoming of foreign funds I find the stretched accusation of state involvement via V15 & OneVoice monies to be lacking substance.
I’d also say that Netanyahu’s speech before Congress was meant to influence folks in both countries. (to include the GOP members of the House and $$ men like Sheldon Adleson)
I’d point out that the talks with Iran are not unilateral and not USA centric. P5 +1 is a UN thing and what may very well end up happening is the US will not observe the treaty.
I’ll close that I do find Israel uncomfortably dependent upon others especially the USA and recognize that holds a remarkable amount of pressure upon their true independence. Still they have and will go outside that box for what is in their best interests and I respect their right to do that.
