Wisconsin (Re)Calling?

Well the paper of record says NO.

No governor in recent memory has been so controversial. No governor in America is so polarizing. Everyone has an opinion about Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin.

Here’s ours: We see no reason to remove Walker from office. We recommend him in the June 5 recall election.

I agree. What this will mean in the long run I do not know but I do know fickle and dishonest faux populism is not good for America.

NAACP and Gay Marriage

I don’t get how the NAACP looks at itself in the mirror anymore anyway but this latest stunt just blows my mind. People talk about how large organizations get lost and I think the NAACP is so fucking lost it isn’t funny. I seriously wonder what King,Hughes, and DuBois are saying right now.

occupy G8

Here is the charter mantra points for the summit:

Build the international economy from the bottom up, not the top down.

Highlight the wealth divide that undermines the foundation of the economy and corrupts political decision-making.

Increase the minimum wage, end poverty and reduce debt to provide a stronger foundation on which to build a new sustainable economy.

Institute a Robin Hood Tax on the purchase of stocks, bonds and derivatives.

Build a new economy that is both economically and environmentally sustainable.

Build wealth at the base by encouraging worker owned co-ops and other democratized economic institutions; and by turning corporate welfare into taxpayer investment where everyone profits from the investment by the commonwealth, not just the corporate owners.

Recognize that we all share a common destiny and that even the wealthiest require the commonwealth in order to increase their riches.

They’re getting a little smarter but markedly more Marxist in nature.

Jews hate fifties?

Anyone else read about the US Grant vs Jews thing. The study of history can be great fun and educational. Sometimes the education is less than noble in spirit though. I read the Slate piece and some other Sarna stuff and I’m blown away by how my personal anti-semitism meter ticked up a few notches. The meter is pretty much like any number of other meters I and others have. It isn’t about having our comfort zones challenged. It is more about the fucked up agendas that become clear in various styles of revisionist history. The full story of the order (#11) and the following history is pretty clear. It should be clear that it doesn’t fall on one or two people either favorably or unfavorably. Things are what they are and thats just a reality. It is what we truly learn from events that matters, not our feelings or personal myopic visions.
