Tehran chief prosecutor Abbas Jafari-Dolatabadi said Sarah Shourd, 32, would be freed when $500,000 (£325,000) bail was paid, and could leave the country.
A senior White House official described the Iranian statement as “hopeful”.
Sounds more like a bribe. Islamic state extortion, how fitting. I really get a kick out of how Iran’s leaders whine and wail about being taken seriously on the international scene and then do stuff like this.Pathetic.
On another note…if you were released on “bail” from a country that stones women, hangs people from cranes, hates the country you are from and put you and your friends in jail on a lie…uummm would you NOT JUMP bail????
“hopeful” more like dopeful
I’m actually a supporter of engaging Iran. With that said I’m also a supporter of bringing them up on human rights violations. Wrongful imprisonment, extortion and forcing the female inmate ,Sarah Shourd ,to wear Islamic dress presumably against her will and therefor her internationally recognized rights are my charges. Refute them if you can.
The pathetic diplomacy game afoot here is in no ones best interest, except possibly the hardliners of Tehran. Three stupid and geeky looking UCal- Berkeley students go hiking in Iraq and find themselves on the wrong side of the border. Sure, they’re the USA’s super special Zionist funded masters of espionage.A year in jail without charge. Sounds more like volumes 213,908,764 and 213,908,766 if you ask me.
