Emergency Alert…Soros is a douche…shop at Target…

Appears Target put up a political contribution to an entity called Minnesota Forward. If one looks at this rationally it is clear Target did so for the business friendly angle of various candidates. Amongst those candidates though is a guy that is against gay marriage. Ergo Soros money machine MoveON initiated a boycott. Target is tres progressive. They try good stewardship towards the vendors of its products and it offers its homosexual employees bennies.

So….Buy something from Target this weekend and put a bullseye on the forehead of douchebags like Soros.

    There are several issues here.
Of course the top one is allowing corporate political contributions at all. Bad bad idea.
The second is that you are required to make your donation public if you contribute to a candidate. Your donation info is on the internet – look yourself up if you doubt it. Likewise a candidate committee has to claim ownership of thier ads in the ad itself. A corporation does not have to do that under Federal Law – it should have to.
However under Minnesota law such donations are made public.
Most corporations who have anything to do with the public the in any way, a retail store like Target, a company with brand name products like Proctor and Gamble, is very very reluctant to make political contributions. If you did not understand before you should now. No matter who they contribute to it will alienate a significant part of thier clientele. This time the candidate was conservative – the next time it might be a progressive one. Corporations likewise have just been reminded why they should stay out. I expect they will be begging Congress to pass laws to get them off the hook by banning all corporate donations.
In this case Target must not have done thier homework. This guy is apparently a notorious homophobe who tried to interject it into everything. Not smart to support that Target.
Target did not back off because of a threatened boycott – they did because of the bad national PR – including employee relations. It had gotten far beyond Move.

Have you noticed the deadening silence from the right about the decisive Prop 8 decision? The decision WAS decisive. Very little left to argue. The one arguement I have heard is whines that the judge is gay. So on that basis all heteros would automatically be disqualified? Who would qualify – a eunuch? A little green space alien? The bottom line is that the days of homophobia are numbered. the young are much more tolerant than thier parents. Go to any major college campus and there are all sorts of pairings that would upset thier parents.

  2. Alfie says:

My point here is that Move et al targeted Target under false pretenses. The stores record on gay issues speaks for itself. One of the ways they are able to offer that stance,as well as the donations to schools and so on is being in a predictable commerce environment.
As for 8…nothing decisive imo due to pending appeals and SCOTUS on the horizon. From where I sit its all divisive..not decisive.

  3. Alfie says:

    From emmers site

I believe marriage is the union between one man and one woman. As a legislator, I have consistently supported the constitutional marriage amendment that protects traditional marriage.

Rationally I think you can have a typical political discussion on that stance and it is hardly as vile as it is being portrayed in the anti-Target world

  4. Have you noticed the deadening silence from the right about the decisive Prop 8 decision?

No, I haven’t. largely because there was no ” deadening” (lol, did you mean “deafening”?) silence from the right. A few have held their piece, but that comes largely from the fact that we have to give the Ninth Circus their opportunity to get it crashingly wrong, before the SCOTUS gets a chance to perhaps get it right.

    The decision WAS decisive.

The decision contradicted itself, and relied on dubious evidence and testimony in direct contravention of both law and tradition.

    Very little left to argue.

Quite a lot to argue, but many of the cricisms have managed to miss the real nub of the issue it raises, and many on the left are too busy jerking themselves off over the ruling to give any thought to what it means if the decision is affirmed by SCOTUS.

But keep telling yourself its done. The deer in the headlights look is so satisfying when the truth comes to you and tapdances on your empty foreheads.

  5. bvilleyellowdog says:

There appears to be serious question if a Prop 8 appeal will even go forward, and even it if does the ruling was very decisive – will the SOCTUS even take it? That issue is dying. The GOP mainstream has shut up about it.

As I said this incident just points out the pitfalls of corporate political involvement. You WILL make someone mad.

When COSTCO makes a big donation to Pelosi – will you be on the case? Point made.

And no that is not a “typical political discussion” That is winger code – for “and no rights for gays.”

“The bottom line is that the days of homophobia are numbered.”

Kinda funny you drones embrace islam while you scream “hopmophobia” towards the Right because they oppose gay marriage. You vermin are so full of crap.

  7. bvilleyellowdog says:

another vacuous comment – twitter twitter – grow up.

  8. Elric66 says:

Glad to see you couldnt dispute what I said drone.

  9. Tex Taylor says:

I think Dawg likes to suck a little dick and take it up the keester… Perhaps that’s why this moron doesn’t recognize he says the same fucking thing every time. Late degree syphilis from squirreling the goats at his farm.

Damn Dawg, we’ve gotten that you’ve learned a new word. How many frickin times are you going to use vacuous this weekend?

  10. Tex Taylor says:

    Come on. Admit you guys.

How many of you wouldn’t like to some dumb shit appeaser like Dawg become Mo’s boy toy or have his head lopped? See, there’s a rosy side to every outcome. Watch this mofo “get religion” pronto while getting his ass spanked – maybe strap a slug of bombs to his chest while he screams “Allahu Akbar” – except he’s so stupid, he’d probably screw the yell up.

Now that would be some serious justice for his incredibly circuitous logic of this moron. Start crawling to Mecca Dawg. Start wailing Dawg five times a day. Throw a stone at the devil Dawg. 😈

“How many of you wouldn’t like to some dumb shit appeaser like Dawg become Mo’s boy toy or have his head lopped?”

I feel that way with every marxist drone.

  12. bvilleyellowdog says:

Alfie – is it that some of the mites here had home schooling or it it the hate radio that rats the mind so?
Call in the maid for a good vacuuming.

  13. bvilleyellowdog says:

    “rots” too

  14. Alfie says:

I’ve had one scheduled event squashed so I have been able to stop by the home computer before I head out on a day of “make up” cycling.
I think if people actually take in others points and say something constructive, albeit still critical in reply, its a good thing.
Along those lines, although pretty much unrelated to this post that I feel is serious,E66’s comment about people being hyper tolerant towards Islam without being aware of just how anti-gay and anti-female it can be is something deserving some consideration.
Also I am including the MNFORWARD candidates link here.It shows a pro business, pro jobs bipartisan mix.It must be stressed also that this is a MN thing. It’s not about national office.
Targets donation,as it is with other Mn. based businesses (BestBuy for example) is all about the jobbie jobs. That’s not a bad thing.
Also I wanted to address BYD’s thoughts on big $$ and politics. You have your view and thats ok w/ me. My view is that this is a perfect example of why Citizens/FEC was a good thing. Sure groups have the right to protest donations.Likewise others have the right to support those entities that share their views.
Bottom line.It is unquestionable that Targets intent is to pursue jobs and tax issues in their home state. In no way can a logical, reasonable person believe Target is looking to back door anti-gay agendas contrary to their own nationwide policies. MoveOn is just grandstanding and doing so on a lie. Wouldn’t it be ironic that if any boycott was successful (it won’t be imo) the first to be laid off purely by luck of the draw ala DADT happened to be Targets employees that are gay?
On this issue I think MoveOn should….move on.

  15. Elric66 says:

“Alfie – is it that some of the mites here had home schooling or it it the hate radio that rats the mind so?”

Whats wrong with homeschooling? That the government doesnt have the chance to stupefy children like what happened to you?

Look in the mirror if you want to see some chump with a rotted mind.

  16. Elric66 says:

So when is the next Dhimmi Dummy Thinker post? With all this flack about the 9-11 mosque, one would think you would have had a post about it by now. You did say you had one in the works.

  17. Elric66 says:

And if you do, you can add this as well.

Newsweek columnist says US funding mosque construction
    Lee DeCovnick

Truth, even in the tightly controlled prison of the Obama media complex, occasionally bursts forth like a swordfish cavorting on the waves of a golden August afternoon.

Love to see these marxist drones comment on this. They hate “One Nation, Under God”. I wonder how they feel about tax payer money to fund mosques and islamic centers. Come on drones, lets hear it.

Last comment on it. You closed the open thread so had to put it here.
