Dhimmi ? Dummy ? Thinker ! Warm and Fuzzy-NOT !

rodin_thinker_detail.jpgThe series Dhimmi ? Dummy ? Thinker ! has taken the position that we all need to think. Grabbing onto stereotypes and hysterics is counter productive to addressing real needs and issues. The predecessor to this series was about calling it what it is when you see it. It looked at the Islamofacism/Islamophobia phenom in the same light as DDT.

Here is a good example of how the thinking part needs to be applied on all sides of the issue.

A British schoolteacher has been arrested in Sudan accused of insulting Islam’s Prophet, after she allowed her pupils to name a teddy bear Muhammad.

Ms Gibbons, who joined the school in August, asked a seven-year-old girl to bring in her teddy bear and asked the class to pick names for it, he said.
“They came up with eight names including Abdullah, Hassan and Muhammad,” Mr Boulos said, adding that she then had the children vote on a name.
Twenty out of the 23 children chose Muhammad as their favourite name. BBC

The article fails to accentuate some points so I’m left to speculate.

First it’s an understandable thing that the kids picked the name they did. A majority of the males have the same name right ? Second, the kids actually voted. A little democracy action. That point was applauded by a Muslim teacher/colleague of the arrested teacher btw. Third, the school project tied to the bear occurred in September. Two months later there’s an issue ? Who is driving that ? Fourth, the government is looking at the case under an established law. This law imo is stupid and not applicable, but the jurists may very well make that decision also. Fifth, there are reports that there are men coming to the jail congregating outside , these guys are up to no good. What justice can be served by allowing them to repeatedly stake out a pressure presence on this matter. Sixth, the kids are set to be losers in this. The backlash against education is almost inevitable if thinkers don’t speak up. Last, the school in itself is a marvel. It is an independent Christian/Muslim school. This should be the way things work. I hope people keep their eyes on this.

So in the spirit of the series name let’s round this out. The Dummies are those who can’t see the good of education and thinking. The Dhimmies in this case will be those that only look to say the teacher made a mistake and she should be sorry as well as the nutters that think this should be seen as a high crime. The Thinkers are those that’ll look at this and see the truth. The school is a good thing. Muslims and Christians can work together on a common cause. The vocal extremist minority are powerful and dangerous and need to be taken down. DDT deadly if you don’t use it right-Think about it all.

Why do you see this insanity almost inclusively with Islam? Also begs the question why you never see Muslims get this worked up over the jihadists thar “highjacked” Islam.

You also forget this quote from the story.

“An angry mob shouted death threats as she was taken away.”

Death threats over naming the bear Mohammed? If anyone should have been offended, it should have been the bear.

  2. in2thefray says:

It’s not that I forgot. In the BBC article that line doesn’t exist. The Daily Mail (uk) and Fox have that though. Also further wallowing in the various press entities shows the possible tipster as a teacher with an ax to grind against the school. I think this will roll out as yet another point that not only adds to the divide between Islam and the West but also the extremists and Muslims that are saying WTF ? re this . The latter do exist. Thx for stopping by.

  3. Elric66 says:

“In the BBC article that line doesn’t exist”

    What a shock

Whats the difference between the “extremists” and Muslims?

  4. in2thefray says:

You and I will never get over this point. There are Muslims who just do the pray, fast live their life thing. Then there are those that create organizations like AlQaeda,Muslim Brotherhood etc. Those that spin out sects like Wahabbi and do what they do. Those are the extremists. The latter group has killed scores of the first group. The whole ist/ism thing is real .That’s where I stand. Just in case I haven’t made it clear. I don’t deny the threat of Islamists and Islamism. It’s real and it’s a global threat to mankind not just Jews,Christians, the West. I also see that there is an enormous number of people who as I said earlier just want to do the pray, fast live etc thing. Those people are not my enemy and don’t deserve to be collateral damage in the actions rightly aimed at the extremists.

  5. Elric66 says:

Would you have concidered Mohammed a Muslim or Islamist?

And you should really take into account that Muslims will get all riled up over a teddy bear, a cartoon, a woman talking about human rights but never do over those who “highjacked” their religion. Even as we speak, Muslims are rioting in France AGAIN.

  6. in2thefray says:

Muhammed was a Muslim simply due to his being the founding prophet. Islam gathered a following as well as opponents. The islamists aspect of Muhammed is generally credited to the combat from Mecca and Medina etc. Also as being a head of state under Islam you get the ist feel. The later writings though, and those are the ones that many say contradict the Quran were after him and serve as the bread and butter for todays Islamists/extremists.
As for the riled up part. The cartoons debacle was ignited and accelerated by those best termed extremists. We’ve discussed that before to a great extent. My position is people can’t stop thinking and just let their passions rule them. So for a westerner to have outrage over the riots,or fatwas against Hirsi Ali for example is understandable but we should look hard at the whole picture. The average Muslim on the street should do the same. If people actually thought for a moment about some of the unsubstantiated things thrown out there wouldn’t be a problem. This is a lot to ask but hey.
And for France. I covered that too. My position on that was never about condoning the violence but understanding it. You still have to put out the fires but the French really need to address why there is so much to burn. Ergo the integration and assimilation road that you and I have gone down before.

  7. Elric66 says:

So Mohammed was an Islamist. He set the bar for jihadists to follow. And of course the term jihad is used in the context of war in over 90 percent of Islamic writings.

Of course, that begs the question why do Muslims feel so strongly about a man that spread their religion by sword, opressed non believers, married a 6 year old girl, set the standard for abuse of women etc.

If Mohammed was alive today, we would throw him in jail for life or worse. He was a bad man no matter how you try to spin it.

  8. in2thefray says:

Not trying to spin but…the Islamists that followed clearly took jihad somewhere that the Quran didn’t dictate. This is an area many find laughable. The Islamists brought jihad to mean killing infidels when it really was meant defend your faith and the other jihad your personal faith journey. Mo was many times fighting for his survival and that of his newborn religion. Jihad as we know it today is the nightmare we all have to deal with.So the here and now. That ties in with your comment about writings and my previous comment about the “latter writings” The rest of your comment :

Of course, that begs the question why do Muslims feel so strongly about a man that spread their religion by sword, opressed non believers, married a 6 year old girl, set the standard for abuse of women etc.

is true. The fact that some people tried on a number of occasions to leave the early centuries behind whilst people like the Wahabbists try feverishly to get back to the darkest years.
Your last point is a good one.It is also one that begs for some interesting thinking.
